Circle of Love. . .

My SIL, Laurie and I took a class at Thanksgiving Point and made this wreath.  It is real easy and she and I had already made wreaths that were very similar. However the class was fun and it was a great time together. Just crinkle paper doilies and coffee filters and hot glue to a Styrofoam base.

We brought extra embellishments to doll ours up a bit more.  The burlap flower and none of the hanging décor was included.

IMG_5289

There are so many things that I love gathered together on this wreath.  Paper doilies and coffee filters. . .

IMG_5295

Burlap and roses. . .

IMG_5292

Mercury glass and bling. . .

IMG_5290

ribbons and pearls. . .

IMG_5291

Vintage inspired graphics. . .

IMG_5294

IMG_5297

Put them all together and what do you get?  A circle of Love!

IMG_5302

I really didn’t know where to hang my new wreath.  The mantle was already decorated and I didn’t feel like messing with it.  Next year I think that’s where it will end up.

So, lack of a better place this is where it calls home.

IMG_5289

Sitting atop my ‘Chocolates for Valentines’ quilt.

The only problem is, it covers up the chocolates.

IMG_5299

Oh well, guess you can say that I am one of those woman that hides her chocolates so no one will eat them. lol!

Gotta ask, “do you hide goodies at your house?”

Hugs,

Jann

LOVE in the boudoir. . .

When you already have a lot of red in the bedroom it is very easy to bring a little bit of ‘Valentine Love’ into your décor.

2012-01-28 Valentine Bedroom

My everyday bedroom colors are red, yellow, and blue, (hence the yellow wall).

My white coverlet works well whenever I want to plop on one of the quilts that I’ve made for a different look.

IMG_5262

This quilt is just a simple 4 patch with a solid block in between.  It is called ‘Cherry Pie’.  I love the mixture of reds and whites.

IMG_5273

I especially love the scallop border, the stripe binding, and oh yes; the polka-dot back.

IMG_5269

My ruffled throw from IKEA gives just a touch of romance.

IMG_5265

I am such a pillow lover!  Poor hubby has to remove 11 pillows off of the bed at night.  I’m a good wife and try to sneak in there a bit before and remove them.  Most of the time that is. lol!

IMG_5275

This little love pillow from Pottery Barn (clearance) holds a couple of Valentines for your sweetheart.

IMG_5263

Now on a more serious note, this one tells it like it is! Hee-hee!!

IMG_5267

IMG_5270

Notice where my plaid boots ended up?  Yes, yes, I am still trying to get up the nerve to REALLY wear them!

IMG_5274

Hope you enjoyed my ‘Valentines’ bedroom!

Hugs and kisses,

Jann

Not Your Usual Fashion Show and a Winner. . .

Many of you have heard me mention shopping at NPS, or what we like to call, “The Train Wreck Store”.  Dubbed that because not unlike a train wreck, you never know what you are going to happen upon.

If you’re willing to take your time and dig a little, bargains are to be found.

The other morning as I was cleaning the shower I had an epiphany. “I should do a Train Wreck Friday Fashion Show”!

Now this will not be like your usual fashion show.  No skinny models, (well, once in a while maybe), but hey, us chubby girls like to look cute too!

And definitely no modeling or fashion training.  Just a little of, “This is kind of cute”.

Prepare yourself for comedy central.

The last few days it has been raining here in Utah.  One needs a little something stylish to step out into the wet world.

Here’s my opening debut outfit.

It’s 7:00 in the morning, so don’t look too close. Had to have hubby snap pic before leaving for work.  No double clicking on photo. lol!

IMG_5257

IMG_5259

It’s ALL about the boots!  How cute are they?  The vintage red rake is pretty sweet also.  No I did not find it at train wreck. Although, they sometimes have vintage items.

The black and grey sweater dress was $17 and the boots were $20.

Had to buy the plaid boots  because I loved them.  Question is, “will I dare wear them?” Wouldn’t want to be one of those 50 something year olds trying to look like a 30 year old.  They may become a cute decoration. On a side note, you sure can see my bad swollen knee.

Then I remembered that I had this hat from train wreck.

IMG_5259

I’ve only dared wear it once. lol!

IMG_5261

And look at this dog gone cute raincoat find for my 6 year old granddaughter, Paityn.

Enough of the fashion, let’s move on to the announcement.  The winner of my give away is: Rose  (Chubskulit) from:http://www.obstaclesandglories.com/.  Rose is a new follower, so I don’t know her well.

She lives in North Korea. I know that she has a young daughter she calls, Ms. Burrito.  I think she likes pink.

Just found out that Rose lived in Korea two years ago and now lives in West Virginia.

Congratulations Rose!

Have a Happy Fashion Friday!

Hilde’s Gone Soft!

Many of you may remember Witch Hildegard.  Last October she made her debut dressed in her finest witchy attire.

IMG_3671_thumb[7]

Well, I’m here to tell you that Hilde’s gone soft.

Look what she stepped out into my entry in today.

IMG_5228

I think somebodies been raiding the wrapping paper box.  Not only does she have a tissue paper bodice, but a couple of tissue roses to boot!

IMG_5232

I’ve been wondering where my two  vintage doilies disappeared to.

IMG_5233

Look at that bow!  At first I thought that the red tag had to go.  But no, she loved the pop of red.

IMG_5229

She thinks she’s the Queen of the Valentine Ball with her sparkly ‘V’, burlap rose,

IMG_5235

IMG_5237

and  pink tulle skirt.  She did mention that she wished she had some rose petals in the hem.

IMG_5238

Now, her change of attire is not the worst of it.  She also now insists that I call her ‘Penelope’.

Oh well I give, Penelope it is.  I must admit, Hilde Penelope looks awfully pretty in pink.

As long as she promises to return as ‘Hilde’ next October I will even look for some rose petals to go in the hem of her skirt.

I might even loan her my cute vintage hat.

Hugs from me and Penelope!

You Hold the Key to My Heart!

First of all, let me say that Mrs. Olson was featured at Angie of Knick of Time.  Wohoo!   Please hop over and check it out.  To read the entire post go here:"Old Mother Hubbard"  Thanks so much, Angie.  I really appreciate it!

Do you remember when you were a young child in grade school and you had a special ‘someone’ that you wanted to give a Valentine to?

I was always so bashful when it came to boys that I liked.  Hard to believe, huh?

That’s what this reminded me of.

IMG_5225

The minute I saw it at T.J. Maxx I loved it!  Of course, the fact that it had a bit of turquoise didn’t hurt any.

I knew it would be perfect for my Valentine Mantle.

IMG_5213

The little guy seems to be pleading, “Please take my Valentine, you hold the key to my heart”!

IMG_5224

My cement pedestal and vintage plate added just the right touch.  You might say, “they take the cake”. lol!

IMG_5214

I got my mercury glass canister for only $10 at NPS (Train Wreck),

This plate isn’t old, but I loved how it went with my other one

IMG_5215

Often I pick up discounted after Christmas décor that will work for Valentines.  That was the case with this little, ‘love dove’ and the glitzy key.

IMG_5222

IMG_5223

IMG_5218

Last year I took cards that I had made and assembled them into a garland.

IMG_5221

IMG_5220

I’ll leave you with a couple pics of the hearth.

IMG_5217

IMG_5216

And one final glance at my ‘Mantle of Love”.

IMG_5213

Hugs,

Jann

After I did this post I went outside to shovel snow.  Yes, we finally got an actual snow storm.  As I was shoveling look what I noticed.

IMG_5227

Tell me you see it!  The ‘Snow Heart’ up in the left hand corner.

I think this was Gods token of ‘LOVE’.  A gift of the well needed snow for our trees, plants, lawns, and yes us!

Thank You, Lord!
